October 31

No - this is not a trick or treater!
I won some donuts from the Post Family Farm this week. This is a place that has lots of things for kids, including pumpkin picking, hay rides, their famous pumpkin donuts and lots of animals. When I went to pick up my donuts, I saw this little goat and thought he was kind of cute!

October 30

This is a section of our yard. Can you believe Bob had it all raked and cleaned yesterday? And this is what it looks like, 1 day later! The sad thing is that there are plenty of leaves still hanging up in the trees.

October 29

This Japanese Maple tree is in our backyard. The leaves are a burgundy red color all year, but turn a brighter red in the fall. This year they are more brilliant red than usual. I love the red on the tree and the circle of red beneath it too!

October 28

The sun is shining today and it makes the leaves look so bright! I love the contrast of the bright yellow leaves and the dark bark of this maple tree in our side yard.

October 27

This is one of the decorative grasses in our back yard. Usually the plumes are a creamy color, but they've taken on a purple hue this fall. I'm enjoying all these colors!

October 26

This is what our yard is looking like. It's been raining the last few days, so lots of leaves have been falling. Our yard is now covered with several varieties of wet leaves along with quite a few acorns!

October 25

This picture was taken down the road from our house. I thought it showed the varieties of the season well. There are trees with no leaves, trees with yellow leaves, trees with red leaves and even trees that still have green leaves!

October 24

These trees are in a park near us. I was struck by the golden leaves contrasting with the dark bark.

October 23

It was raining when I took this picture, so it's not really clear. This is our neighbors house, where, as you can see, they are happy! Ben, who is 15 years old was injured playing football on October 1. He got a closed head injury, had to go on a ventilator and had surgery that same night. He was in a coma for several days. Lots of people in our town started praying for him and today he was able to come home! He still has some short term memory problems, but it's a miracle that he is still alive, and the Dr's feel that the memory problems will resolve.
We're thankful for answered prayers!

October 22

This is the view I see when I turn onto our road. I enjoy seeing these trees when they are green in the summer and when they are covered in snow in the winter, but I think the colors in the fall are the best of them all!

October 21

We had a gorgeous day here. It started off raining, but by mid morning the sun came out and the colors in the leaves just shone. I went out to run some errands and had lunch with my sister and we were marveling at the beauty around us as we drove. The trees in this photo are actually more yellow in person than they look here.

October 20

It's been windy here the last few days. The leaves are blowing around and falling down. Don't they make a pretty picture on the ground?

October 19

What a beautiful day we've had today. The sun has been shining and the sky is clear! There is an apartment building next to the nursing home, which is fenced in. I went out and took this picture when I noticed how pretty it looked out there, with the early morning sun shining on it.

Here's a sign of the season. All these boats are pulled out and closed up for the summer. The water is right near them, but the sailing is done for the year.

Here's another shot of the harbor at Pentwater, Michigan.

October 16

My sister, daughter and I drove to Pentwater, Michigan today. This is about 1 1/2 hours north of our home, on the shores of Lake Michigan. It was a nice sunny day, but quite cool. Along the drive we really enjoyed some beautiful colors, but we were surprised how green it still was on the lakeshore.
This picture was taken near the harbor in Pentwater.

October 15

I was in the city near our home last week. The sun was shining, and as I walked I was struck by this view. I loved the reflection of the old building, on the side of the new building.

October 14

I drove past this field today, and thought it really showed the season well, with the dried corn on one side and the pumpkins on the other. Soon they will all be harvested!

October 13

We had a really pretty day today. It wasn't too cold and the sun was shining, so I went for a short walk when I came home. This is the road in front of our house. The trees are starting to show more color and the color always looks nicer when the sun is shining.

October 12

These berries are adorning some shrubs in my back yard. It adds another nice splash of red to the landscape!

October 11

This was taken in the wooded area next to our house. I've noticed that the leaves in the trees are showing more yellow, but the vines in the woods are turning brilliant red. I always love seeing the red color in the fall.

October 10

Look what I got in the mail today! A few weeks ago, I won a photo from Vicki at My 2009 Project 365. I got to pick out any one of her pictures and I thought this shot of a chive flower was beautiful. Today my photo arrived and is just waiting for me to have it framed. Thanks Vicki!

October 9

The creeping crud has struck our house. My husband and I have both been home sick today and I haven't taken a single picture. I took this a few weeks ago when I was out walking. I've mentioned before that I like to look at trees and I just liked the way this knot hole looked with the leaves around it.

October 8

The leaves are starting to change around here. There is a lot of green yet, but I'm seeing quite a bit of yellow too. I walked past my neighbors yard, where their maple tree is starting to drop leaves. I thought this little grouping of leaves, with the variety of colors was especially pretty.

October 7

This is the way things looked out the window at work this morning. It was extremely windy last night, with high wind and gale warnings. Many people lost their power and there were branches down in lots of places. The sky was dark and cloudy all day but this evening the sun is shining. Hopefully tomorrow will be nicer!

October 6

We had a beautiful sunset last night. I looked out and noticed an orange glow. Because wwe have so many trees around our house, we can't really see the sunset well so I drove down the road and found this gorgeous sky.

October 5

After several cold and rainy days, the sun came out today, so when I came home from work I went for a short walk. I noticed these tall grasses on the edge of a field and I liked the way they looked against the blue sky.

September 4

I took this picture yesterday at my bank. I was driving around the back of the building and noticed these clusters of fruits hanging from the tree. When I got closer, I noticed the strange shape of the fruit. Each one is about 1 to 1 1/2 inches across. Anyone know what this is?

October 3

I've shown you pictures of our cat in funny places before. He seems to like enclosed areas, so I wasn't surprised to see him in this box. Funny cat!

October 2

I was in the grocery store today and saw saw this display of mini pumpkins. Aren't they cute?

October 1

It's October and the sky looks like Fall. I liked the way this barn looked with the dark sky behind it.
