March 31

"Blue skies, smiling at me, nothing but blue skies, do I see!"
Irving Berlin

It's so nice to see blue skies and sunshine again! I stopped at the Grand river today. There was hardly a cloud in the sky, and although it's still pretty cold I know Spring is coming.
However, the weathermen have had the audacity to mention that nasty s word. They are predicting a "wintry mix" for this weekend and no warmer temps until next weekend. :(

March 23

And this is what is happening in my area!
Last night we had wind, rain, sleet and then ice. However, on the other side of the state they got a bunch of snow, so our small amount of ice isn't really too bad.

March 21

Since most of our snow is melted, I wandered around our yard to see how things looked after the long winter. These are called rain bells, because when it rains, the little cups fill with water and tip into each other, making a ringing sound.
Do you see what's in 4 of them? It's acorns! We had so many of them come down last Fall, and it looks like a few landed in the cups. Pretty Funny!

March 17

This flower head on our hydrangea tree is one of several that have remained throughout the winter. Despite it's fragile appearance, it has dried and faded to this sepia color, hanging on through wind and snow.
Soon new flower heads will appear, forcing the old ones to fall off. Until then, I enjoy seeing their faded beauty.

A winter tree shows a beauty that it keeps hidden behind leaves in the summer.

I love the straight lines of this old barn. Nothing fancy, but it has sheltered animals and provided lots of storage in its years.

After a few days of warmer temps, the snow came back!
(just a little snow though)

March 3

When Bob came home from work today he came in the house and said he had a photo opportunity for me. In our backyard was this leaf, sinking into the snow.
The sun was shining today and the leaf must have warmed up and sunk down. It's hard to see on the picture but it was a few inches into the snow, stem and all!
