"Bare branches of each tree
on this chilly January morn
look so cold, so forlorn.
Gray skies dip ever so low,
left from yesterday's dusting of snow.
Yet in the heart of each tree,
waiting for each who wait to see,
new life as warm sun and breeze will blow,
like magic, unlock springs sap to flow,
buds, new leaves, then blooms will grow."

The promise of spring . . .
You have an eye for capturing the ordinary in an extraordinary way!
This is gorgeous Mari! Beautiful shot!
I love the simplicity of the tree, and the 'framing' is so nicely done,
great capture, Mari!!
this is just a beautiful picture!
Simplistic and beautiful. Love the poem. Your snowflakes on the black background is perfect for your snowy views this season. :)
Lovely post and lovely poem by Nelda Hartmann. I have a cousin by the name of Nelda. Unusual name. Although I don't for one minute believe my cousin is a poet!
Beautiful combination of photo and poem. Our worlds look much alike.
The tree looks so exposed against the backdrop of the line of bushy trees, but yet it looks like it's drawing itself up proudly as if to say, "This is what I am and I'm fine with that." Really cool composition here, Mari.
beautiful shot, Mari!

Such a contrast to our colour. I would love to see a winter like this. The light must be amazing.
