July 15

I was in one of my neighbors barns last night. They have horses and had some saddles hanging up. Although this one hasn't been used for a while, I was struck by the details on it. The wear on the edges also adds to its character.

My family has a few of these in the barn-- Some are uses daily, some once in a blue moon, but the riders would NEVER give up a great saddle.

Great shot!

I can understand why they never give them away.

Well, I see you commenting on Kayren's blog daily and thought I'd come over and see who you are!
Your kitten sure reminds me of a cat we had for 18 years! Don't you just love their little tricks!
Very sweet photo!

though I am a bit scared of horses, I always loved looking at the addles in my grandfather's barn....and smelling the leather!

I know nothing about saddles but it surely looks nice to me.

Oh seeing that saddle makes me want a horse. I've wanted one since I was a little girl. I have the space now, but don't know the first thing about taking care of them :-( I do know that they are expensive and by the looks of that detailed saddle so is all the equipment that is needed for them!!

Great photo, Mari. If I had that hanging up, though, I'd be sure to dust it to maintain that intricate and beautiful detail.

Nice subject for your photo - isn't it fun when you see something totally out of your ordinary day???

I am so glad you went in and glad Cheri told you to go ahead.

Renee will love this. . . .

That is my first saddle I ever bought. I too wanted horses so bad when I was little. My dream wasn't realized until I was an adult about 8 years ago. That was also my husbands first saddle and my daughters first saddle. The tooling on it is really beautiful--very worn but I just can't bear to part with it. It isn't worth anything and it really hurts your butt. We can't even put it on on our gaited horses. Lindsey rides english so it just sits there.. . . .it's just that it was my first saddle!!
