This picture is typical of what happens when Bob sits down at night. He pulls out his computer and before you know it, Oliver is coming up to join him. He rarely sits with me, and Bob is always his first preference. Do you suppose he knows who he needs to butter up?

January 27

It's cold again here, so it's time to make some soup! I made this soup which is a copycat recipe from the Olive Garden. It's Pasta E Fagioli and it's one of our favorites. As you can see it makes a big batch. However it freezes well, so I always put at least half in the freezer for another time.

January 24

It's been a dreary day today. It's been raining and the temps have been in the mid 30's. The snow is melting, for now. However, we're supposed to get some really cold weather this week and some snow with it.
This little frog figurine sits out in one of our flowerbeds and has been covered in snow. Now he looks like he's peeking through the snow, trying to decide if he's ready to come out!

January 20

We've had a beautiful day today! The temperature made is to 37 degrees and the sun is shining.
This is one of the trees in our front yard. Doesn't that blue sky look great?

January 17

We're having a dreary, somewhat foggy day today. I went to the river after church this morning to see how foggy it was there and try to take a few pictures. However, even though the snow has been melting, there was too much for me to get very close and this is the best I got!

January 14

The sun has been shining here and the temps were in the 30's today! This means the snow has melted off the trees and is melting on the ground. Freezing rain is predicted for tonight, but it's supposed to be warmer again tomorrow. You won't hear me complaining about that!
I came across the barn today and thought it was another barn with character!

January 11

This little building was once a one room schoolhouse. As a matter of fact, my father-in-law attended school here. It's now owned by a man who is a photographer. He uses it for a studio and to store some of his props. I'm glads he takes such good care of it. I've always thought it was a neat building.

January 7

It's been snowing here - all day and it's supposed to continue through tomorrow.
I was out running errands and stopped to take a picture of this tree lined drive. I posted a picture here of this same drive in the Fall.

I love old barns, so when I saw this one on a country road near me I had to pull over and get a picture of it.

January 4

Andy left to go back to Colorado this morning (Monday). We had Laura and Aaron here Sunday night to spend one last night together. Bob and Andy have been playing Super Mario on the Wii and were trying to conquer the last castle, and we were cheering them on. In this picture Bob's character had "died" and you can see the stress Laura and Heather are under watching Andy play! In case you are wondering - the castle has not yet been conquered.

January 2

We had a nice sunny day, but so cold! Right now it's 8 degrees here. I'm lucky to live near Lake Michigan because it keeps us a little warmer. Those on the other side of it are really cold tonight! (Right LuAnn?)
This little stream is a few streets away from us. It looks so pretty in the snow.

January 1

Happy New Years Day!
I had to work today and what a day I had! We are relaxing with pizza and a movie tonight.
When I came home my husband told me to look out the dining room window, because the sun shining on the icicles looked like it should be photographed. The sun wasn't very bright but it does make a nice picture.
