June 5

I've been on a bit of a blogging break, because my son who is currently deployed to Afghanistan was home on leave for 2 weeks.
He left Saturday to return to his base after some time we all enjoyed.
This picture is one he took on his base. This is an Apache helicopter which is what he works on. I love that sky with the sunbeams over the mountains.

November 28

I have to tell you about our Thanksgiving surprise. This is our son Andy, who is in the Army. He told us he wouldn't be able to come for Thanksgiving as he is coming home for Christmas.
Imagine our surprise when the doorbell rang at 10 am and he was standing there!
He wanted to celebrate the holiday and my birthday.
It made my day!

December 24

We love having Andy around! He is always making us laugh. I bought these stockings as a joke from the dollar store and told the kids they had to fill them up for Bob and I.
Andy found them, added the Christmas hat and said they were now filled up. It's actually true - I had said all I wanted for Christmas was to have him home!

December 22

Laura, Andy, Heather

Last night we picked our son up from the airport to spend a few weeks with us over Christmas. He's in the army and hasn't been home since March, so everyone was happy to see him.
Our daughter Laura's husband was working so we picked her up. This is a sight I haven't seen in several years - all three kids in the backseat of the car together!

Here is another picture that our son took, while on the training mission in the desert.  These colors are so beautiful, and do you see the moon in the sky?

November 18

Our son was recently in the desert in California, near Death Valley for a month on a training mission.  This is a picture he took during a dust storm. This is not a black and white photo, it just looks that way because of the dust.  I thought this was such a neat shot and wanted to share it.

August 29

What a long day we have had today. We have just checked into a hotel and it is 10:30 pm. We made it to Kansas City, almost into Missouri.

This is a picture of Bob and Andy at the cabin, shortly before we left. We had to talk and enjoy that view one more time! Then came the teary good bye's. I hate saying good bye. Andy told me it was just "see you later". That does sound better!

We are taking a different way home. We drove through Colorado and Kansas. A lot of Kansas was empty and flat! We drove for miles without seeing any other people or towns. We did see some pretty sights, but it's hard to take a picture out of the car window. This is the best I got!
After another day of driving, we should make it home again tomorrow.

April 3

Not a lovely picture, I know. There is a point to it though!
We had to bring Andy to the airport bright and early. We left our house at 3:15 am this morning. It was raining like crazy, so not a great drive. We said our good bye's and headed for home. I drove home so Bob could try and nap in the car as he had to go to work. I was at a light, waiting to turn left when I realized that the truck that was coming from the crossroad was going to hit me. There were no other cars on the road so I started backing up, but he still ended up bumping into the front of our van. He said his brakes locked up. However - and this is the point of the picture - there was no damage. Thankfully he hit the bumper and not the side of the car! We then headed home with no further incidents. Andy had an hour delay, but made his connection and is now safely in Colorado!
