We took a little vacation last week and went up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. While we were still in lower Michigan, we stopped at a lavender farm. The barn was huge, I loved it's shape, the star on it and the little bumped out door area.
Stepping around the barn, we saw hillsides covered with mounds of lavender. It must be gorgeous when it's blooming!
I had to include this metal chicken that stood at the back of the barn, overlooking the lavender fields. He stood about 5 feet tall. Isn't he cute?

I love the red barn. Great photo!
I love everything about this barn!
The star and the stone foundation and the big chicken is a whimsical addition.
Oh, I so love this barn...love the stone foundation...love the shape. I like the area too.
LOVE the chicken! and the shot of that barn is great! the perspective you showed makes it look like it's just looming over you. nice!
I'll bet it smells divine when it's blooming! And as for that star, that's a five-pointed star, the shape of the lone star of Texas! The five-pointed star is EVERYWHERE around here! It's great to see it in Michigan, too!
Great barn and I do love that chicken!
Gosh...that is a big barn. Nice how the car gives it some perspective!
Carletta's barn had a quilt pattern, and yours has a star. Cute.
I think that metal rooster is adorable.
This is awesome, Mari! I'm esp. enamored with barns that have any kind of stone work as part of its design. The size and color enhance it as does the star.
The final touch: that whimsical rooster!
We loved the upper penninsula when we vacationed there about 10 years ago.
what a great barn!
great barn and love that rooster! i would love to see all that lavender in bloom!
Lavender farms are nice when they are in bloom, we have one nearby. Neat old barn, the star must be relatively new, it jumps out at you. The chicken is awesome.
Wow, Mari...I live in Michigan and would love to go to that lavender farm. Where is it?? You always have pretty pictures!
That is a wonderful barn! I can't imagine how gorgeous those fields are while blooming...or the scent!
Wonderful photos and I love the rooster. Where did you go? My mom is from the U.P.
That is awesome! I love looking at all your pictures. It is like I took the vacation also.
Glad you had a wonderful time.
A big red barn & a lavender farm... sounds like a book! LoL!
It's gorgeous & I love that stone area near the door... and of course, the star... & the chicken, what a hoot & 5 feet tall? YiKeS! I'm wondering if the chicken is buried in snow in the winter? =)
Thank you muches & bunches for joining Barn Charm, Mari =)
