We had a huge snowstorm last week that transformed our outdoors! 13 inches of snow in two days made for beauty all around us. This was taken just down the road from my house.
We were out driving yesterday afternoon, admiring the beautiful snow covered scenery, when I spotted this old barn, sitting all by itself in the field. I like the simple design, and the old wood against the white snow.
It was a beautiful day today; unseasonably warm temps for Michigan, clear skies and sunshine! I watched my little granddaughter for a few hours this afternoon and we took the opportunity to go for a walk. Along the way I saw this bird nest. It's occupants are long gone, but it's still secure in the branches of this tree.
This barn used to belong to a friend of mine, who built a new house and moved down the street. They had horses and stored the camper in it. After it was sold, a group from the college in our town asked to rent it to store instrument from the worship team, and also to have weekly practices. They also offered to paint it. So it was painted - a pretty bright red, don't you think? And there are no animals - just college kids singing and playing!
We had some cute visitors at the Nursing Home today. Three puppies came to visit. They were Sharpei/Puggle mixes. and they got a lot of love and attention!
This barn belongs to one of my nursing home residents. I showed her this picture and she wondered why I would take a picture of "that old barn". I told her it's a great old barn with character! She said it's just used for storage now, but it used to hold the hay and for some years they had horses in it. It's nice to know a little bit about one of the barns I photograph!
I came across this little barn in a nearby town. I think it looks Christmasy, with the red paint and the snow and ice. I like the sliding door and the little window.
I went to a funeral home in a nearby town to pay respects for one of my residents who passed away earlier this week. Near the funeral home was an old church with this unique steeple. Most of the bells in churches around here aren't visible from the outside. I really like being able to see the bell, and I bet it's fun to hear it ring!
This barn belongs to my husbands step-dad. He farmed and drove truck all his life. He's now nearing 80 and still enjoys being out on the tractor. This barn doesn't get used like it did in the past, but there is still some hay stored in it. Do you see the ladder inside, leaning up against the loft? It's a simple barn, but it's been used well over many years.
My brother-in-law, Mark, had a pretty major back surgery yesterday and I sat at the hospital with my sister for the day. When I left the sun was setting, and I saw this beautiful old church from the parking ramp. What a pretty sight! * Mark is doing well today and will be coming home Sunday.
I am a Christian wife, mom to 5 and Grandma to two adorable little girls. I have 2 daughters and a son who were born to me and 2 sons who joined our family by marrying our daughters.
