I took this picture yesterday at my bank. I was driving around the back of the building and noticed these clusters of fruits hanging from the tree. When I got closer, I noticed the strange shape of the fruit. Each one is about 1 to 1 1/2 inches across. Anyone know what this is?

STAY AWAY FROM IT!! I THINK THAT'S WHAT EVE ATE! :)
Just kidding. I don't know what it is but it looks delicious.

Now that is an interesting looking fruit. I love the color but I don't think I would give it a try.
Great picture.
Those are really neat looking. Great picture too. Mark thinks it's a type of choke cherry. I have no idea what that is but that is his 2 cents.
Smiles!
Haha, I just read Sandra's comment! It looks like bomb from a cartoon only red.
Not only do I not know what they are...I don't remember ever seeing any.
Are you sure it's a fruit and not just a very, very odd... flower? Gosh, I haven't a clue. Cool picture though!
I was wondering the same thing.
WOW!!! What a great capture!!!
looks like no one knows what that is for sure...very interesting fruit. hmmm, you have a very good eye for catching cool photos.
Very cool and colorful photo. I don't have a clue to what it might be, but am very interested to find out!

Debbie - you are right! I looked at the picture and that's exactly it. Thanks!
you're so welcome! ;) Sister Faith told me I should check out your photographs. I'm glad I did. You have quite an eye for the makings of a good picture. Very impressive!

Nice bumpy little things, aren't they? Someone earlier had them posted and said they were dogwood berries. Well, where I lived most of my life (WA State), we had dogwood all over the place and they never had berries that I could make out, at least nothing that looked like these.
Oh, just read your comments. They are of the Japanese variety. Makes sense. I understand they are supposed to be edible. Perhaps could make jam out of them??
