August 7

This building is where I went to school for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Later it was used as a 1st grade building for many years. There was talk of tearing it down, but someone bought it and fixed it up. It's now a daycare center and a school of dance.
I'm so glad it was saved. I can still remember those old halls and lining up in front of those doors at the end of recess. Good memories!

What a beautiful building... so glad someone saved it, and its use today is so appropriate and pays homage to its past as a school. I love the red doors and the flowers in front!

What a great building. We live in a Navy town and a developer turned all the old buildings from a Naval training center into places to dine, shops....etc. It is awesome to see great old buildings been given a new life.

Love this building. It looks like it could be a renovated house! I always thought it would be cool to buy an old school house and turn it into a house- but a daycare is is nice too.

I love it when old buildings find a new life. There is an old elementary school in our town that was going to be torn down, but it has been renovated (at great expense to the taxpayers, mind you) and is now a cultural centre. You've seen it on my blog Mari, it's the place where we had our family photos taken.

I have such great memories of that school. I'm so glad all three of my girls went there as well. I can still feel the wood of those old floors under my feet. Kindergarten in the basement! Loved it!!! One bad memory. I had to go the bathroom and had on one of those one piece jumpsuit thingys. The janitor was in there and we didn't have stalls back then. I squatted over the toilet like when you have a bathing suit on. I can't believe he didn't leave, but I know he was busy and didn't even notice I was there. Old Mr Byker, probably thought it was no different than one of his little girls at home.
