July 27

I went to the Farmers Market in town today, and after I bought some wonderful produce, I had to stop and buy some sunflowers to put in my kitchen. I've always loved sunflowers. They are so cheery!

We've been getting quite a bit of rain around here lately. I love the way the flowers look with the raindrops on them. This is a Rose of Sharon.

July 20

My daughter, Heather was sitting at the table talking to me and I thought she looked cute in her hat. I made her sit while I snapped some pictures. I like the look of this one, even with the one sunspot shining on her face!

July 18

We had a huge thunderstorm today, followed by sunshine! I love the way the sun is shining on this old shed, with the dark sky in the background.

Heather came home from a wedding with some bubbles, and after blowing them once, we found Oliver just loves them. He tries to catch them, and once they are gone, he looks at Heather and meows for more. Funny cat!

This old trike, although it's rusty and has seen better days, has it's own type of charm!

July 12

A common saying from the farmers around here is "knee high by the Fourth of July", which is talking about how high the corn should be by that date. This year the corn is considerably taller, after lots of rain this Spring, followed by lots of sunshine!
I don't know why this old tractor was sitting in the cornfield, but I liked the greens of the corn and tractor, next to that blue sky, so I pulled over to take a picture.

I spent the day at a campground along Lake Michigan, where my sister was spending a week. I noticed all the fencing placed along the dunes to prevent erosion. This one isn't doing so well, but I love seeing that weathered gray look against the dune grass.

This is the Chime Tower at Longwood Gardens. There is a spiral staircase inside that you can climb and come out the back of the top. There are old chimes that play inside. There is a small waterfall to the left of it. What a beautiful spot!

This is another picture taken inside the conservatory at Longwood Gardens. I've always loved the look of vines growing up buildings. It's hard to believe that this one is inside a building!

July 7

Longwood Gardens has a kids garden in the conservatory. This little boy was having a great time playing in the water feature. When I saw him later, his shirt was completely soaked!

July 6

This is another picture from Longwood Gardens. One of the things I enjoyed at the gardens was the way that all the doors and windows were made unique and decorative. This was one of my favorite doors there.

While in Pennsylvania, we visited Longwood Gardens. If you ever have the opportunity, you should go. It's an amazing place, with beautiful scenes like this around every corner!

July 4

Happy Fourth of July! Those of us in the USA are celebrating the birthday of our country today. This is another barn we saw while in Pennsylvania and I thought it was a good one to share today. These old barns make me think of our hard working ancestors.

While in Pennsylvania, we stopped at the Strassburg Railroad. It's an old time station with steam engines.
I think there is something fascinating about looking down rail road tracks!
