December 12

I came across this little barn in a nearby town. I think it looks Christmasy, with the red paint and the snow and ice. I like the sliding door and the little window.

December 12

I went to a funeral home in a nearby town to pay respects for one of my residents who passed away earlier this week. Near the funeral home was an old church with this unique steeple. Most of the bells in churches around here aren't visible from the outside. I really like being able to see the bell, and I bet it's fun to hear it ring!

This barn belongs to my husbands step-dad. He farmed and drove truck all his life. He's now nearing 80 and still enjoys being out on the tractor. This barn doesn't get used like it did in the past, but there is still some hay stored in it. Do you see the ladder inside, leaning up against the loft?
It's a simple barn, but it's been used well over many years.

My brother-in-law, Mark, had a pretty major back surgery yesterday and I sat at the hospital with my sister for the day. When I left the sun was setting, and I saw this beautiful old church from the parking ramp. What a pretty sight!
* Mark is doing well today and will be coming home Sunday.

How do you like this door handle? This restaurant is known for it's hamburgers and have been voted as the best burger joint in town several years in a row. The hamburgs really are good and the door handle catches my attention whenever we go there.

Alaina got her first package in the mail the other day. Our son Andy is in the army in Afghanistan, and he had this onesie made and sent to her.
Pretty cute, right?

November 10

First snow of the season!
We were supposed to get snow today, but it wasn't supposed to stick. However, our yard is covered in white! This is the beginning of a long season.

November 7

I've driven by this barn many times, and always admire it, but have been unable to get a picture of it. When I drove by yesterday, the sun was shining and no one was around, so I pulled to the side and snapped this shot. I'm glad to finally get the picture!
I think this is such a classy barn. I love the cupola and the dormers. The sign with the old car has the address on it. Do you see the old hand pump on the right corner, next to the garage door?

Stop by Tricia at Bluff Area Daily to see more great barns!

This is a row of trees I pass often. I have taken many pictures here, but I don't think I've seen this spot ever look more pretty than it does right now. I love the yellow leaves against the dark bark and the fence adds such a nice touch!

"November comes
And November goes.
With the last red berries
And the first white snows.

With night coming early,
And dawn coming late
And ice in the bucket
And frost by the gate.

The fires burn
and the kettles sing,
And earth sinks to rest
Until next Spring"

This is another old farm that has been preserved for park land with lots of hiking trails.
Here is the back of the barn as we came upon it from the trails.

Here is the front and side of it. It's a simple barn, but I like the style and dark wood. The top of the silo isn't looking too good though!

This shed sits about 60 feet from the barn. It looks like it may have been a chicken coop at one time.
The property was beautiful to hike, and the barn was an extra bonus!

Tonight I am sharing some of my best pictures ever with you.
Monday morning my first grandchild was born!
Her name is Alaina Jo and I think she is just beautiful.

She weighed 7 lbs 8 ounces and was 20 inches long.
She has brown hair, long fingers and toes and cheeks that were made for kissing!
And if you couldn't tell - I'm in love!

Isn't this a beautiful barn? This is the Post Family Farm, a favorite destination for families and school groups around here. Kids come here to pick out pumpkins, see the animals and ride the pumpkin train. Adults come to eat their famous pumpkin donuts!

When they put new cement down near the donut area this summer, all the grand-kids of the owner got to put their footprints in it. There was even one cat footprint at the end!

We had our great-nephew over from Saturday to Sunday evening. What fun having a little guy in the house again!

This little barn is on a road I drive on a lot. I've always thought this barn is really cute, but when I noticed the trees changing color I knew it was time to stop and take a picture. I like it from the front but the view from the back is even better!

Don't you love that row of windows? I think it looks cute, nestled in the trees.

I went hiking with my sister at a nearby nature center. It was kind of cold and rainy, but we still enjoyed seeing the beautiful colors of Fall.

Here's another old barn that I drive by frequently. The barn is pretty typical, but I love the old tractor in front of it.

This little building is near the barn, set behind it in a field. I don't know what it was for, maybe an outhouse? It doesn't look like it'll be around for long. I think it's pretty cute though!

I'm participating in Barn Charm. For more charming barns, visit Tricia at Bluff Area Daily.

We saw this dilapidated old walkway off a pier in Marquette. I love the way it looks, but I wouldn't want to walk on it!

This barn is a few miles from my house, and I go by it frequently without paying too much attention to it. This time I noticed it, because of the hay in it. I think they are ready for winter. It doesn't look like you could fit one more thing in it!

I'm linking up to Tricia at Bluff Area Daily for her Barn Charm. Stop over there to see lots of unique barns.

Last week we were in the Upper Peninsula. As we walked the beach of Lake Superior, we came upon this boat which was left, deteriorating on the shore.

We took a little vacation last week and went up to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. While we were still in lower Michigan, we stopped at a lavender farm. The barn was huge, I loved it's shape, the star on it and the little bumped out door area.
Stepping around the barn, we saw hillsides covered with mounds of lavender. It must be gorgeous when it's blooming!

I had to include this metal chicken that stood at the back of the barn, overlooking the lavender fields. He stood about 5 feet tall. Isn't he cute?
