I really think I like old faded barns better that the new beautiful ones.  These barns have character!  They remind me of the little old people I care for in the nursing home.  They too are gray and wrinkled, but they have character and stories to tell.  And both barns and people have a certain charm when they are old.
I like this barns shape and color.  Do you see the plaque on near the front left corner?  It's a historical plaque, given by the state of Michigan when a farm is owned by one family for 100 years.

I love taking pictures when it's a little foggy.  There's an air of mystery surrounding everything - even this perfectly nice tree!

This barn has a most unusual roof line, but only on that one side.  The rest of it seems to be in fairly good condition.  I've been watching this barn for several years and the wavy side doesn't appear to be changing, but I can't imagine it can stand like this for any length of time.

I saw this barn as I was out driving on Sunday afternoon.  It was a foggy day and you can see it in the haze around the barn.  I like the weathered gray siding on this barn and the one little window in it. It's really rare to see a decorative element like this rooster on the barns around here.  It gives a nice splash of color!

I took this picture at work when I was asked to take a few 4 generation pictures of one of my residents, with her daughter, granddaughter and her great granddaughter. While we were trying to get pictures of all four of them, the baby grabbed onto her great grandma's hand and I grabbed this shot.
Such beauty in those hands - both young and old!

February 25

This picture makes me cold, just looking at it.  It pretty much sums up how things have looked around here lately - snow and blowing snow...
Getting back to the barn - I like the simple shape of it but I wish they had painted that door red to match the rest. It's not in great condition.  I see lots of holes and warped boards.  The roof isn't looking so great either.  I don't think it's used for much besides storing a few things now.

This barn belongs to some friends of ours who like old things.  Their house is filled with antiques and the barn has old equipment around it.  It looks much more western than we usually see in West Michigan.
I like the wood siding and the piece of farm equipment out front.

I've shared this barn before, but never in the winter.  I drive by it often and always enjoy seeing it, no matter what season we are in, but I think it's really pretty in the snow, with the pine trees around it.

Winter in West Michigan usually involves a lot of snow.  This year we've had very little but last week we got dumped on.  (16 inches in one week!)

I have to say, I think all barns look beautiful with snow on them - especially red ones.  This is my neighbors barn, sporting a nice covering of white.

We've been hit with Lake effect snow here in southwest Michigan.  We've gotten over a foot of snow since Sunday.  It means the roads aren't too good, but it sure is beautiful!  I took this picture out of a window at work.
