June 4

This little path leads to the state property I often walk on. There are a few maple trees near it and the path is filled with little maple seeds. When I was young we called them "helicopter seeds" because of the way they spun in circles when they came off the tree.

When my daughter was little, she ate those seed pods. In a panic, I called Poison Control. The only name I have even known them as was helicopter seeds. They knew exactly what I was talking about! They are non-poisonous.

I almost forgot. When I was little my brother, cousins & I used to split the seed part & stick them to our noses! LOL

I don't think I've ever seen a maple tree before. I just love this picture! It makes me want to get up and take me a walk somewhere!!

Mari, I am surprised that some people have never seen a maple tree before. That means they have never seen the seed pod before. They must not live in America.

I love the perspective of this photo, Mari. It looks like such a peaceful walk.

Ah yes. The lil helicopters. What a mess they made on my patio when I lived in Ohio. :)
