October 1

Grand Rapids is having it's second annual Artprize. This brings artists from all over the world to show their art all over the city. There are more than 17,000 artists in 192 places in the city. This goes on for 2 weeks. It's so fun to walk around and see all the different types of art.
This piece is called Elephant Walk and is in front of the Children's Museum. There are 3 elephants standing there and their heads bob when the wind blows.
For more pictures of other pieces, visit my regular blog.

Love it Mari!! I actually collect elephants, have for probably 40 years, so I would be 'on cloud nine' to get a pic of these fellows up close, lucky you!!

Oh, I love the Elephant Walk. And my grandson loves Curious George. Now I'm dating myself by telling this but in 1954 when I was in the fourth grade I went to the movies every Saturday, and I still remember Elizabeth Taylor, Peter Finch, and Dana Andrews starring in a movie filmed in Ceylon called "Elephant Walk." Thanks for reminding me of this great on-location movie. I'll have to see if it's on DVD!
