October 20

I was at my sister-in-laws house last night, and was startled to see something big fly in the back yard. Upon closer inspection, I found it was turkeys! They were flying onto the roof of their garden shed. They are a funny sight flying, and sitting up there!

That's great! My mother's neighbor has peacocks and turkeys that fly up onto her house and won't get down until she gives them bread! I've yet to catch them there when I have my camera, though!

I hate to say it but several years ago a turkey flew across the road right in front of me when I was doing about 65 on my way home from a skiing trip! I just wish they would learn to stay on the ground and not spread their wings and go up! I must say the guy I encountered did not have a good outcome. Maybe that's why Ben Franklin's idea of making the turkey our national bird (instead of the bald eagle) did not get too many votes!
