July 31

This barn belongs to an older man from our church. I heard a rumor that it was going to be painted soon, and I decided I better get a picture before that happened.
I love the low overhang of the roof. Can you see the swing set being covered by the vines on the left side of the barn? His kids and grand kids are grown so the swing is no longer used.

For more barns, visit Tricia at Bluff Area Daily.

The vines, the sloped roof, and the white picket fence add to the charm of this barn. I'm wondering what color it will be painted.

I don't know what color he is painting it, but I'm assuming white, as that's the color it's always been.

sure it was better to take the picture before they are going to paint it.

Cool, so this is the barn that the church was asking for help to paint.

I like the look of weathered wood and the soft patina it acquires. It gives a sense of history.

I do love this barn too. Glad you got a picture before they painted it. But you should take one for us to see the new color.

That roof looks in very good shape. You'll need to satisfy our curiosity by posting a pic of the newly painted barn, too!

What a great building. I like the weathered look, but can see why they'd want to paint it (for preservation). The low hanging roof is interesting. I've never seen that type of roof on a barn. On a house yes (to help snow to melt off), but not a barn.

It's so attractive the way it is! Too bad he's going to paint it!

Oh I'm so glad you got a chance to get a before pic & I'll be waiting for the after one, as well! ;)
Yes, I see the swing there & I'm guessing the vines will be cleared to do the painting... I like the low roof, too, adds to its character =)

that's the first thing that caught my eye, the low roof and knowing that my boys would be trying to slide down it lol...glad you got a "before" shot!

I'm glad too that you got a pic of it before the painting of it. It's charming. I love the slanted roof. That area where the swing must have been a wonderful place to play and sit and visit. Probably some of his kids got some kisses in with their boy/girlfriends there too! ;>)

This is lovely...and the roof is in such great shape! I love the look of the weathered wood but am curious to see it painted as well. It is great to barns that are taken care of...

I've seen a lot of barns but never one with a "long sweep of a roof" as Texwisgirl writes. what an intriguing barn for that roof. and I love those old swing sets, I had one when I was a kid. they were so simple back then. just like this old barn that has such character. that roof looks to be in good shape too - it must have cost a small fortune to shingle it! happy Tuesday to you Mari. and thanks for visiting my blog and saying hello, I truly appreciate it!

If he paints it, be sure and show us. It is funny how everything looks so nice and trimmed except for the side of that barn.

Mari, all the photos in your header are just exquisite! I stared at each one.

I like when barns are weather-worn, but I guess new paint will keep it functional. Lovin' all the barns on the Barn Charm tour.
