March 13

It was in the upper 30's today and the snow has melted. When I went for my walk this evening, I was so happy to see this green tint to the field down the road from my house.
The farmers often plant something called winter rye in the fall. When the snow melts, you can see it has begun to grow. This is something they plow under in the Spring. It helps amend the soil. I'm just happy to see green. I also saw my first robin while walking!

We've had several robins here ~ maybe they winter here (?). I'm looking forward to green grass too ~ our bermuda goes dormant in the winter months and everything is brown. Some of the fields are vibrant green ~ wheat grass, I think it's called.

Great picture! I love the way the trees look in the winter-before you know it, leaves will be covering the trees and the grass will be green!

I have never heard of winter rye. Think I'll do some research on it. Before we became winter texans I would get so tired of "brown" everything. So glad you are seeing green.
