August 15

Some of the farmers around here have some pretty impressive irrigation systems. I guess they have to be big to water a whole field, but I was still surprised by the size of it when I passed near it.

I've seen these things when driving on the back roads past farms in Southern New Jersey too.

Hope your summer is going well, Mari. I have fallen behind a bit.....

Never seen such a big system - great!! My younger son would enjoy it!

Those contraptions can be huge! But it is still better than ditch irrigation where one has to go out and switch pipe around once ever so many hours. The only problem with this type of irrigation is that it is on wheels and goes in a circle. Therefore, the corners of the field suffer from not enough water. Good shot.

We have one of those in our "backyard"... it is kind of cool when they turn it on & over night it moves from one area of the field to the other... it is a comforting sound to me... maybe because my hubby is in the agriculture business... that is the sound of good crops which = money!
be blessed

We saw these a lot when I lived in IN. I loved how they would shoot water off the end like a sprinkler.

A very necessary piece of equipment today I'm sure. We've seen lots of those in our travels.

I love the photo. Isn't is great what technology can also do.
