August 26

Today we visited an abandoned gold mine and a ghost town. We walked 2 miles just to take the trail through the gold mine. This was one of the most prosperous gold mines in Colorado and over 3000 people lived here. Today we were the only ones walking around and all the buildings are falling apart. It was an interesting thing to see.

Gold or no gold I don't think I'd step foot inside that building today. It looks as though a small gust of wind could topple it to the ground! However is does make for an awesome picture :-)

I think this is beautiful. The abandoned area, the colorful wildflowers.... it looks like a painting.

Oh...I love this: the skeletal remains of the gold mine contrasted against the colorful summer flowers in the foreground...

This brings back childhood memories. We explored a lot of ghost towns when I was a kid.

Great shot!

Bet you and the snakes were the only ones around!

This is a fab foto! Love the contrasts between what is dead/dying and the renewal of life as usual in the wildflowers. :D Great photo! This one candidate for framing and hanging.
