February 27

We had a lot of snow come down yesterday, and then today it warmed up a little. That made the perfect conditions for making a snowman!
My sister lives just down the road from me. Her husband and 8 year old daughter, Halle made this snowman. You can't tell from the picture, but this snowman is about 9 feet tall. My niece told me "it took us all afternoon to make him!"
If you look to the side of the snowman, you will see a snow kitten and a baby sister for the snowman.

All those little snow flakes keep coming down! This is the view from my living room window. Here is another view of the same tree in the fall. I love to see this majestic tree in every season.

February 23

It's been snowing again, and more is predicted for tomorrow. These big pine trees are next to our house, and I love the way they look with snow all over them.

I haven't been walking outside much because it's been so cold. I had today off, and the sun was shining so I thought I'd take advantage of it.
I quickly found out that although it looked so nice, it was deceiving. There was a cold wind! I was soon chilled to the bone and made my way back to my warm house!

February 14

Are you watching the Olympics? We've been seeing some of it. Our cat, Oliver is enthralled with it. He'll sit right in front of the TV, and watch what's happening. Sometimes we think it's more fun to watch him than what's on the television!

This is Grand Rapids own "Nessie". You may remember when I showed her to you before here, when we had an Art Competition. At that time she was in the Grand River in the middle of the city. Now she has been moved to a pond on near our zoo. We drove by her today, and had to stop to get a picture of her in the snow.

Here's another view of Lake Michigan, from the Grand Haven beach. When I posted the Grand Haven lighthouse, I made the mistake of saying we hadn't had much snow lately. Sara told me that now we would get snow and she was right! We are supposed to get between 10 and 14 inches of snow between tomorrow and Wednesday. Soon, I may have some snow pictures to post!

February 5

My sister, Cheri and I went to Grand Haven today. We thought we would stop at the lake and see the ice build up. We were really surprised at how little ice there was. Usually, the pier and the lighthouse are really covered in it at this time. Our winter has been milder than usual, so I guess that accounts for less ice. It's crazy that other areas are really getting pounded, while we are enjoying a milder winter.
We enjoyed our stop here, even with minimal ice!

February 3

It snowed much of the day yesterday, so it was nice to see the sun shining this afternoon when I got out of work. This is taken in my back yard. I like the way the snow looks almost blue and seeing the shadows on the snow.
PS - thanks to those of you who voted for my picture in the photo contest. It was the winner for the week, and will go up against the other weekly winners later.
