February 7

My sister and I went out to Grand Haven to see how the lighthouse and Lake Michigan were looking this winter.
It was really cold, and because of all the snow that fell last week in the blizzard, we couldn't get too close. There is a lot of ice forming over the lake and there were lots of gulls flying around. The lighthouse is fun to see in any weather!

I think it's neat that you live near the lake. It's so nice to see your lake pictures in each season.

My first thought was "windswept"! The slight glow lends to the feeling of cold. Lovely picture of the lighthouse, as usual.

Wow! You know, from this picture it looks like you were in the channel on a boat or on the pancake ice. :) Which, we know you weren't. LOL
I love it out there too!

I am glad that you and Cheri were brave enough to brave the elements to get this picture. I have been checking Grand Haven on the webcam. It is such a beautiful place in any season.

I'd love to visit this site in any weather, but wrapped in snow, it's especially beautiful!

Brrrr, but the lighthouse was definitely worth the trip out in the cold. Beautiful.

Gulls? Do they not mind the cold? That surprises me a little. I love the red in contrast with the grey and white. My mother loves lighthouses and has traveled all over to see them. (Mostly in the South, but and in England, too.) Y'all could share pictures - she has captured some pretty ones, as well!

That red makes things seem warmer than the snow and ice imply.

Hi Mari, thanks for visiting my blog! How funny that you live in this Dutch area! With google I noticed the Zutphen in Michigan, it seems very small with only a few roads!
The Zutphen were I live is a very old town!!
I put you on my blogging list!!

Great picture. I feel cold just looking at it! Love the red lighthouse against the white snow. I love lighthouses because their light always leads us home.
