January 3

This barn belongs to one of my nursing home residents. I showed her this picture and she wondered why I would take a picture of "that old barn". I told her it's a great old barn with character!
She said it's just used for storage now, but it used to hold the hay and for some years they had horses in it.
It's nice to know a little bit about one of the barns I photograph!

It's really nice to hear what's the story behind each barn. If only walls could talk ^_^ Happy New Year!

Funny how we suddenly realize we should be taking photos of these old buildings. Nice shot. Happy Barn Charm!

I think we all realize that as we get more and more interested in photography we learn to see things in objects that others often ignore or overlook. It's just part of what we become. Happy New Year, Mari!

Love this shot!
What lovely composition - the teasel in the corner, the peaking sunset/rise and the cloudy sky - a load of charm!

I think it's a beautiful barn too! I bet it would be fun to photograph later on in springtime for comparison. I like the other barn you posted earlier too. Happy new year to you!

It's lovely in its simplicity. The sky behind it is gorgeous and your shot really shows off the barn in its great setting.

Snow, yay! You're right. When I photograph old homes, I want to know who lived there and built it. Old houses (and barns) have character and stories. It's a shame that they fall down.

I always like hearing about the history of the old buildings. How fortunate that you were able to talk to the owner to be able to preserve it's story.

Her comment is so typical of MY mother. She had all of these beautiful old family trinkets in a shoe box. When I found it she could not understand why I would want that old junk. That junk is a true treasure of family history for me just like this barn. Glad you took this beautiful shot. genie
