I really think I like old faded barns better that the new beautiful ones. These barns have character! They remind me of the little old people I care for in the nursing home. They too are gray and wrinkled, but they have character and stories to tell. And both barns and people have a certain charm when they are old.
I like this barns shape and color. Do you see the plaque on near the front left corner? It's a historical plaque, given by the state of Michigan when a farm is owned by one family for 100 years.

Mari, that is a grand old barn and to think it's been in the same family for 100 years...that is amazing....I think it's neat that your state gives a sign for that....
Wow, the same family for 100 years, now that is very cool! I love old barns, too, they have a certain charm to them.
I like that little wing on the right that looks as though it may be part stone.
Yes, I like the weathered look of old barns too, Mari. It looks like it could have a new roof though. Here in Minnesota, the sign would read century farm.
I feel the same way about the older, weathered barns. Besides, the barns now often have cows that are fed high-energy food to increase production and cows aren't out on pasture, etc. etc. That barn was from a different era - when people weren't in such a hurry and cows had names rather than numbers. We also were on a gold standard, rather than printing paper money, so the dollar was worth more, which meant that a farmer with 20 cows on 80 acres could support a wife and children. Who could possibly do that these days!
LOVE IT.. Love the age and the colors..wondering if it was being used or not. I know some use them until they fall. I have seen so many like that. This is a treasure..Thanks for sharing it.
This is a beauty!! I do like the old barns best. They have so much character that the modern style barns don't have. Ones like this are a testament to the foundation our country was built on.
I agree. Love the character.
Character and history, love these barns! : )
i agree with you!
I agree, Mari. Older barns as well as older people are often overlooked because of their age but I think they are so interesting. There is much beauty to be found in faded exteriors.
I like the old ones more also. This one is great.
I love the siding on this one! It's a beautiful barn! In Missouri we have 'Century Farms' when a farm has been in the same family for 100 years. I always love seeing those signs. Have a great day! Twyla
That beautiful, old red barn definitely has character! I love the photo.
This is an old beauty, for sure.
Wonderful barn shot, the weathered wood and the snow, love it. I think it's great that old historical barns are recognized.
This one is real jewel.
What a great old barn! I love the green roof, and your perspective of this image! Thanks for sharing!
Great barn. Thanks for the work you do, that's a tough job.
I totally agree with you about the character. What a beauty!
Oh, my! Such a handsome old structure and with so much character. And such a fine photo. I would love to see this barn done in pen and ink with the lightest bit of color. It is a fabulous subject.
I agree about liking the old ones better than the new ones, they do have character. This is a good one!
that's a beauty of a barn =)
Fine sturdy structure.
I agree- I love the old faded wood, and it's red, my favorite barn color. Cool green roof, too!
