September 12

I had the day off, yesterday so my sister and I decided to have some fun. Every fall we go to a well known orchard in our area. They have a little restaurant where you can get soup and a sandwich, served with an apple and cider. They also have a fun gift shop.
We had a nice lunch there, followed by a little shopping. Before we left, we had to go back to the orchard store to get some apples and cider to bring home!
This apple is about 12 feet tall and it's been around a while. We have pictures of our kids standing by it when they were young. Most people from our area would know the name of this orchard, just by looking at the apple!

An apple this size would be hard to miss, wouldn't it? Very unique find. Great tale and bit of history for those of us who like to do some "arm-chair travel". Thanks. I like the wagon, trees and lawn expanse background.

I love the fact that you and your sis have a fun ritual to both anticipate all year long..
and then getting together..
making the day memorable!
what fun I have with my sis!
sometimes doing something really special..
and then other times....
just doing nothing at all..
but enjoying the fact that we are together as we live so far apart!
I do miss the orchards and cider of autumn..glad you had sooo much fun!

What a great "fall" thing to do - visit an orchard. I haven't have my first sip of cider yet, but I just might have to now!

I'm glad you and your sister are close in heart and proximity so you can enjoy doing these things together and build more memories.

Neat idea, to take pictures of the kids with the apple over the years.

Sounds like a perfect way to spend the day off.
What will you be making from your fresh apples?
That "statue" sure is impressive and can´t be overlooked.

That's cool! I wonder if they ever repaint it, say in yellow or green!
