I showed you this photo of our front walk a few weeks ago and told you that we had lots of acorns this year. Well, I have to tell you it's only gotten worse! My husbad raked and swept them up a week ago and you can see what has fallen since then. We can't take a step in the yard without stepping on them.

That's a lot of acorns! The squirrels should be happy. :)
Count your blessings! If you had cows on your property and they ate the acorns, they get massive diarrhea! My mom has a big oak tree in one of her pastures and in years when the acorns are prolific, she gets lots of cow patties (but really thin, skinny ones)! I know this is probably more information than you wanted, but I just couldn't resist!

I'd trade acorns for chestnuts any day. We had a massive chestnut tree in the front yard of our old house and we every year I don't know how many mini chestnut trees I'd pull out of the lawn/garden. It seemed everywhere they landed they grew. It was horrible!

There is a massive maple tree in the yard next to ours and if the wind is blowing in our direction when the seeds fall, they cover our yard. Then all the next year I am pulling little maple trees out of the lawn and flowerbeds. I know that's their survival strategy, but really, enough is enough!
This is really a lot of acorns! I can imagine that the crushed acorns make a lot of dirt and it sucks to have to constantly sweep the road.
But the squirrels will be happy about so many acorns!
