May 2

As you know I love barns, especially the old, weathered ones. This is kind of a sad picture because all that remains of this old barn is a silo and a portion of the top of it. I don't see many new barns being built in the same way - most of the new ones are just pole barns. I hate to think of the old barns I love to look at becoming like the one in this picture.
I've linked this post up with Tricia at Bluff Area Daily for her weekly Barn Charm post. Check it out if you love barns too.

I am like you and take photos of all the barns I see almost...thinking that someday all we will have left is pole barns.

I pass a similar scene every day to work and back and I often wonder about it. I hope to go exploring this summer and take a photo of it.
I'm with you---it bothers me to see this marvelous historical structures disappearing. They are so much apart of who we are as a nation.
I really appreciate that some of you are keeping them alive in your photos and thus in your readers minds and hearts. :)

Yes, they will soon all become relics of the past. The replacement with metal buildings I'm sure is an economic one.

Isn't it sad when they get like this...I have loved barns, it seems like forever.

Amen to that... I hate to see them disappearing & so quickly at that... More & more of ours seem to be collapsing due to the ice we keep getting every winter now... it didn't used to be like that!

Great find & this is an example of why more people should capture these old barns now so that they can be remembered before it's too late...

It looks like the top of the silo may have gone with the wind! Another great picture!

It is sad to see an old barn in this condition. I too wonder how long before most of them are gone.

You wonder what stories these old buildings could tell. You captured the mood of this scene so well.

In our area, the silos are becoming just as rare as the old barns. Heartbreaking to see them go.

I remember seeing this one. I am afraid that the more farms that go up will do away with those old awesome wood barns. So, take many pictures, because one of these days. They might be all gone.

I feel the same way when I come across an old chimney. Everything else is gone and I can't help but wonder what was around it and the life it contained.

It is kind of sad. Around here even though many people have old barns, they build pole barns next to them, or in another field. The old ones are often demoted or left to their own devices.

I was too late to link to mine, but it can be seen at my blog.

hmmm...I don't think this one has too much time left :(

We have many in this same condition around here. It is sad to see them go.

I always think of then as a treasure captured. They'll be gone in a blink. Have a great weekend.

I like the way you captured this. There is a softness to the background and great texture in the clouds.
