Dogwood trees are beautiful from a distance and close up too!

You got that right!

Those dogwoods are completely different from the ones we get in Oregon. Our native ones are white but we also have a lot of pink/reddish Japanese dogwoods. My scientist son tells me that what we think of as the petals are actually bracts. The petals look more like stamens in the centre of the flower. This is typical of the cornus florida. Now you know!

Every year we talk about getting a dogwood tree & never do. I totally {{love}} them!

One of our dogwoods is in full bloom and the other one blooms after the first. It would be nice since they stand together that they would bloom together.

I like your picture. I must get out there and get a picture too.

It was too cold and rainy today for picture taking.

I think I've never seen this tree before (okay, in your post from Sunday ...) but it's really beautiful!

This is a beautiful shot Mari and I do miss the dogwood trees that I grew up with in Texas. I ordered one from a catalog one time and planted it here where I live in Oregon and it died. *sniff* I was so sad! The other trees I ordered lived and grew beautifully though. :)

I love Dogwood trees. When we lived in Washington state, as a child, I used to wiggle the big seeds in the middle of the flower and pretend I was a dentist pulling teeth. How ironic....
